Manslaughter of Humphrey Ellis, twelve years old, prosecutor's son, by striking him with a stick for taking wood from a fence. Inquest found prisoner guilty. Deceased was lame after a previous fall, but died 'from fever proceeding from inflammation generally but more particularly from the knee in which suppuration had formed'. mwy
