Burglary of prosecutor's house and stealing money therefrom. Prisoner described as a poor man with no visible means of support 'yet did eat and drink much better than many sufficient tradesmen'. Recognizances indicate that Mary his wife was also to be indicted. She is described as a 'desperate ill woman, a known and notorious thief lately tried for her life and burnt in the hand'. oth prisoner and wife indicted for the theft of a smoothing iron on the same day (no. 5). Depositions show, however, that this took place in the spring of 1729. mwy
